THE WORDS FROM ANNESOPHIE BÉRARD, OUR CURATOR :
THE DANCE OF UNIVERSALITY
French photojournalist of Iranian origin, internationally renowned, Reza travels to other countries in order to bear witness to the cultural richness and to fight the ignorance that divides our societies. Each of his images encourages us to find, in the so-called foreigner, the common human being. Unpublished, the photographs presented here are taken from the artist's travel diaries. Powerful symbols of freedom, they show whirling dervishes in full practice (three women in Apparition and the great dancer Shahrokh Moshkin Ghalam in Dedale). Initially reserved for men, this ancestral dance, called Sâmâ (listening in Arabic), is first and foremost a spiritual act: pivoting on themselves continuously, the people who practice it reach a meditative state to connect to the world and convey a message of universality.
The Caring Gallery is committed to donating 10% of the sale of this work to the partner association of the exhibition.
