Barthélémy Toguo
THE WORDS FROM ANNESOPHIE BÉRARD, OUR CURATOR :
Invent, Vibrate, Gather
Born in 1967 in Cameroon, Barthélémy Toguo develops a protean, universal and social work. Nourished by current events, the artist bears witness to the ills of our society (exile, climate change, wars, epidemics) and thus questions our humanity. Convinced of the real capacity that art holds to modify our ways of being, doing and thinking, Barthélémy Toguo puts into images our common sufferings and joys in vibrant and luminous works. The watercolors presented show a human silhouette celebrating water as a vital source and the birth of a new world.
In 2013, he also inaugurated the Bandjoun Station in Cameroon. This initiative combines the creation of an art center (to compensate for the lack of cultural policies) and an agricultural project to promote food self-sufficiency. It is thus a question of redistributing its knowledge to the community, while paying homage to the power of Nature and the Living.
The Caring Gallery is committed to donating 10% of the sale of this work to the partner association of the exhibition.
