THE WORDS FROM ANNESOPHIE BÉRARD, OUR CURATOR :
DIGITAL ECOLOGY
Digital technology accounts for 4% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide and the simple manufacture of a computer requires 240 kg of fossil fuels, 22 kg of chemicals and 1.5 tons of water. Being aware of this environmental impact encourages people to develop simple and responsible actions on a daily basis, such as sorting their emails, putting their computer on standby and reflexively having it repaired rather than thrown away.
In the image from her project Objets-Monde, Canadian artist Sabrina Ratté imagines a desert landscape mixing the real and the virtual: computer screens, abandoned there by humans and whose proportions have been enlarged, look like architectural ruins that are part of the ecosystem and the traces we leave behind.
The Caring Gallery is committed to donating 10% of the sale of this work to the partner association of the exhibition.
