WE CAME FROM
THE WORDS FROM ANNESOPHIE BÉRARD, OUR CURATOR :
Understand, Support, Weave.
we came from is a platform born from the encounter between Nina, a French designer, and Farooq, an embroiderer from Afghanistan exiled in Paris since 2015. Migrants are at the heart of all the creative and solidarity projects they develop.
The work presented was specially created for the exhibition. The motifs embroidered on the curtain and illustrated by Flora Langlois are taken from a text by Farooq, in which he revives memories of his country through fields of wheat, sunshine, soccer games and kite flying -an entertainment banned since the arrival of the Taliban in power. The poem can be read below. In addition, patches are presented in the Shop part of the gallery, each purchase allowing the development of the platform's projects.
The Caring Gallery is committed to donating 10% of the sale of this work to the partner association of the exhibition.
