Kubra Khademi, born in 1989 in Afghanistan. Lives and works in Paris, France.
Kubra Khademi is a multidisciplinary artist. Through her practice, she explores her life as a woman and a refugee. She studied Fine Arts at Kabul University, before joining Beaconhouse University in Lahore, Pakistan. In Lahore she began creating public performances, a practice she continued on her return to Kabul. Her work was a response to a male-dominated society with extreme patriarchal politics. After the execution of her performance known as the Armour in 2015, she was forced to flee her home country and is now a refugee in France. Emerige Revelation in 2019, she joins the Fiminco foundation residency in Romainville in 2020 and is currently living in New York thanks to the Salomon Foundation. In 2022, she is preparing a solo exhibition at the MPK in Kaiserslautern and at the Collection Lambert in Avignon. She is also designing the poster for the next edition of the Avignon Festival.
